Concert Venues

Concerts are a way for audiences to view live performances, usually live music. This may be a band, singer/songwriters, or even musicians, choirs and orchestras. They are usually located in venues that are built to host them particular types of shows and performances. A venue may be specific to the type of performance it can hold. For example, an opera house will host opera music, and jazz clubs will tend to only allow jazz musicians.

But music venues can differ in location. Many venues are held outdoors, particularly in cases of music festivals such as Glastonbury or the V Festival where an outdoor stage is erected to house the acts taking part. These types of venues are often temporary, and generally charge an admission fee to create a profit. Often, if a concert is being held to raise money for a charity, the acts may perform free of charge, and any admission costs and proceeds will go towards the charity. These types of concerts are usually held outdoors too.

Concert venues, depending on the type of music or performances they permit themselves to hold will vary in interior. Opera houses and venues for orchestras will tend to be quite lavish and grand. Venues that house simply jazz music or the blues will also create an atmosphere to complement the music. Often venues may charge admission fees to recuperate costs, for example, if a venue has been hired for an occasion, such as a stadium, but some public venues may offer free admission.
